Layi Adesiyan, Osun State Director of Youths, Sports and Special Needs, has commended the Super Falcons for the 6-0 victory against Mali in its opening match at the on-going 2016 Africa Cup of Nation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Falcons whitewashed Mali in its group B match at the Stade Municipal Limbe in Cameroon on Sunday.

Adesiyan said the Super Falcons had started the journey of the eighth title.

“The Super Falcons remain the only national team that always gives us a good record in their encounter.

“This is a good beginning for our girls. I can almost bet that they are coming home with the Cup, nothing can hinder them.

“The girls gave a good account of themselves and we are happy that they made the country proud.

“I wish Falconets started like this; we would have been preparing for the quarter final match.

“What we need to do now is to concentrate on the next match.

“I will advise the coaches to strengthen the team for the next match because we are the team to beat in the group,” he said

NAN reports that Nigeria, drawn in Group B with Mali, Ghana and Kenya, will face Ghana on Wednesday in the second match. (NAN)
