A three-year-old girl has mistakenly shot her seven-weeks pregnant mom in the US state of Indiana.
The girl was playing with a loaded Glock 19 9mm handgun left behind by her father, Menzo Brazier, in the car when she shot her mum, Shanique Thomas, by mistake.
Brazier, of Michican City, had taken his family along to shop for new clothes for himself and tried to get his pregnant wife to join him in the store but she excused herself to stay in the car on account of illness.
Unknown to Shanique, her 21-year-old husband had left behind a loaded gun.
Shanique, whose one-year-old son was also in the car, told police she did not know her three-year-old was playing with a rifle until she heard a “loud pop, like a balloon.”
Although the bullet hit her back, Shanique reportedly still got down to ensure the safety of her kids.
The Merrillville, Indiana, Police Department has charged Brazier with two counts of criminal recklessness and two counts of neglect of a dependent.
