50 Cent is not happy with Kanye West’s suggestion that Beck should give his Grammy to Beyonce.
After Beck won album of the year at the recently conducted Grammy awards, Kanye West claimed that he should have given his award to Beyoncé and that doesn’t sit well with rapper, 50 Cent.
According to the ‘in the club’ hitmaker, ‘Beck wrote and produced his own hits on Morning Phase while Beyonce needed plenty of help on her self-titled album.
‘Beck produced and wrote the record, there are 11 producers on Beyoncé’s album,’ 50 Cent said and added: ‘Kanye being a producer and writer should see that.’
50 Cent further said he has been forced to lose graciously in the past, like when Evanescence beat him to the best new artist at the Grammys in 2004.
‘I felt I deserved Best New Artist for my first album. It’s the largest debut in rap with 13million records sold. When’s the last time you saw Evanescence?’ he asked rhetorically.
Kanye West has since back-pedalled on the incident, insisting he was ‘mis-worded’.
‘When I said ‘respect artistry’, it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part because Beck is one of the most respected artists,’ he said.
