Aero Resumes Flight Operations, Recalls Sacked Workers

Aero Contractors Airlines yesterday resumed flight operations across the country, after recalling over 600 workers it sacked about two weeks ago.

The resumption of flights came just as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority re- certified the airline for operations.

It was learnt that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) insisted that it must increase its manpower by recalling the workers before it would be allowed to resume operation.

At the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, (MMA2), Aero workers were  seen yesterday selling tickets to customers and there were officials of the airline at the check-in counters.

One of the staff of Pathfinder International, a sub company to Aero Contractors, confirmed that they were called by the management of the airline to resume work yesterday morning and the same message was relayed to other workers of the airline.

The Public Relations Consultant to Aero Airlines, Mr. Simon Tumba, confirmed that the airline has resumed its operations.

However, Director- General, NCAA, Mr. Joyce Nkemakolam said that it granted the airline permission to resume skeletal and not full services.

According to Saturday Mirror, Nkemakolam said that the agency would only give Aero the full status when it completes its auditing process with the agency.
