The Wife of the President and First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has opened up on why she’s pursing a legal case against the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose over his publications linking her to the William Jefferson bribery scandal.

The First lady speaking through her counsel, Mary Ekpere-Eta of Mary Ekpere & Co, Legal Practitioners disclosed that the decision is aimed at letting the public know that “nobody is above the law.”

Aisha Buhari’s counsel further revealed that the First lady is suing the Ekiti State Governor, Fayose for defamation of character adding that “most importantly,” was to prove to the public that “the immunity clause is inexhaustible. It can be unveiled in certain instances.”

Fayose however through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome had on July 8, 2016 said the the wife of the president, Mrs. Buhari should wait till October 16, 2018, when he would be leaving office taking the matter up in a full fledged legal battle adding that his immunity clause precludes him from any legal attack.

In reaction to Fayose’s reply, Mrs Aisha Buhari disagreed with his point of view noting that any person elected into a position of authority should be of a responsible conduct, “and when such a person conducts himself irresponsibly, the clause of immunity maybe unveiled,” she noted.
