Former Governor of Bayelsa State, and godfather to the President, Mr. Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha (DSP), 62, who suffered shame and political persecution through the actions of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, may be pardoned by the National Council of State.
The convicted and impeached Alamieyeseigha, is amongst several other persons from across the federation to be pardoned for various offences, a source familiar with the matter told journalists Tuesday.
Alamieyeseigha enjoys the political patronage of President Goodluck Jonathan who confessed in a statement in 2011 that the disgraced former Bayelsa governor is his benefactor.
The Council of State is made up of all living former Presidents, Serving President, Vice President, State Governors, all living former Chief Justices of Nigeria (CJN), Senate President and Speaker of the House.
