The Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, yesterday appealed to the Federal Government to refund the sum of N105 billion, which it used to execute federal projects in the state.

Amaechi made the appeal when he led the minister of information, Mr. Labaran Maku and members of the National Good Governance Tour (NGGT) on a visit to the Port Harcourt-Owerri Road.

“We are begging the federal government to pay us the money we used to execute federal projects in the state. So far, we have executed N105 billion worth of federal projects.

“We have fulfilled all requirements as demanded by the Federal Ministry of Works, and we are appealing to the minister of Information to tell them to pay us our money” he pleaded.

The Governor disclosed that his administration had executed a total of 405 kilometres of federal roads in the state since he came to power in October 25, 2007, adding that the projects were for the interest of the people of the state.

In his speech, minister of information, Labaran Maku, commended the governor for assisting the Federal Government to execute projects that are people-oriented.
