Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said on Wednesday that his administration will continue to support the operations of the army against kidnapping, illegal oil bunkering, armed robbery and other vices.

Speaking at Lagos House, Ikeja, during the visit of the new General Officer Commanding, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Enebong Udoh, Ambode noted that although a lot had been achieved in securing the state in the last 32 months, the government would continue to support military operations designed to ensure peace.

He said, “Security is the foundation of the economic growth of Lagos and it has been proved in the last two and a half years. I have had the cooperation of all the security agencies in Lagos; they have worked together and there has been a lot of collaboration and improvement.

“I will scale up the activities of Operation Mesa and welcome the idea to set up new army units that tackle kidnapping and smuggling, among others. I am excited that we will soon have the presence of the army in most of those areas where we are having troubles.

“There is already a division in Badagry and I strongly believe that Lagosians will benefit from what we are doing on security.”
