Dr Josephat Akabuike, the Commissioner for Health in Anambra, on Thursday said that the state government would collaborate with the private sector in efforts to ensure quality healthcare delivery.

Akabuike said this during the inauguration of a computerised Axial Iconography Scan Centre at Eldorado Specialist Hospital, Awka.

He said that the essence of the partnership was to provide affordable and quality medical care to the people, as quality health care delivery was a priority focus of Gov. Willie Obiano.
“The centre has computerised laboratory for diagnosing health challenges like cancer and tumour-related ailments for patients seeking such facilities abroad,’’ he said.

Akabuike, who was represented by Dr Emma Okafor, Director of Primary Health Care and Control, said that the health facility was established by the state government to stimulate medical trips to the state.

“Government is already renovating its health centres, three in each of the senatorial zone, so as to provide quality health care services to the people.

“Over 400 health workers were employed in July to provide inadequate personnel, which are lacking in some local government areas of the state,’’ he said.

He said that government was making arrangements to give incentives to health workers working in difficult terrains in the state. (NAN)
