Anambra guber: PPA candidate tasks youths on active politicking

Mr Godwin Ezeemo, the gubernatorial candidate of Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) in the Nov. 18 Anambra governorship election has called on youths to engage in healthy and active politicking.
Ezeemo made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Awka.
He reminded them that as future leaders they should be concerned with current political activities around them.
He said that every eligible youth in the state should be active in politics and not parochial as power of one vote can make or mar a state process.
Ezeemo said that often time people say that their one vote will not make any difference but numerated times one vote made a difference in life and times of people.
The candidate said, for instance, that one vote in 1645 gave Mr Oliver Cromwell control of England.
According to him, one vote in 1776 gave USA English as official language instead of German, also in 1800, Thomas Jefferson was elected President of USA by a single vote margin.
Ezeemo further said that in 1845 one vote brought Texas into the union, also that in 1868 USA President Andrew Johnson was saved from impeachment by one vote.
He said in 1994 USA House of Representatives enacted a law banning specifics classes of assault weapons, the vote initially was tied but one member changed his vote to approve the ban.
Ezeemo said that lots of proof of one vote abound in the society and pleaded with electorate saying their one vote do not matter to come out and vote as it matters.
He said that a one vote for PPA come Nov. 18 would mean socio-economic and political wellbeing of the people.
Ezeemo pledged to use his competence and will power to make positive impact in the development of the state.
He urged the youths to actively participate in the Nov. 18 gubernatorial election in the state as one vote would make lots of meanings either for development or stagnation.
Ezeemo also enjoined the youth to reject god-fatherism and election rigging, among others.
