The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 chosen Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as his running mate as vice president in the 2015 presidential election scheduled for February 14, 2015.

The Lagos based Osinbajo is a pastor at Olive Tree House of Prayer for All Nations in Banana Island, which is a Redeemed Christian Church of God Parish.

Osinbajo is also the Ethics Adviser to the Advisory Board of the African Development Bank and the director of Citibank (non-executive).

Mr. Buhari declined to pick Mr. Tinubu because that would mean a Muslim-Muslim ticket, an arrangement the party believes could hurt it at the 2015 elections.

“Yes, it has been agreed that Osibajo should be the one,” our source, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to break the news to the media, said. “It was finally agreed last night. There is going to be a press conference to present him today.

“But we will continue to work on Tinubu to accept the reality of our time. He could not have been selected because Nigerians  are sensitive to religion and we shouldn’t be blind to that.

“To be fair to him, he has agreed that Osibajo be selected but we will keep working on him. He has been assured of his place in the scheme of things.”

Furthermore, the appointed running mate and father of three has served in various capacities in the United Nations and has written, edited and co-authored several books and publications.

The graduate of Law from the University of Lagos would automatically become the vice president of Nigeria if Buhari eventually wins the presidential race come 2015.
