Mr Eze Nwachukwu, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, says the party is repositioning ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He said that the nationwide state congresses held on Saturday, July 29, across the federation, was part of the processes aimed at repositioning the party for victory.

Nwachukwu who spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abakaliki, said that the 39 party members elected at the congress would vote at the National Delegates’ Convention.

“As we approach the 2019 general elections, the party is beginning to reposition itself and to re-strategise its tactics to ensure success in the elections.

“The hitch-free state delegate election held on Saturday, July 29 and supervised by Mr Abdulkadir Shehu-Nephantou to select Ebonyi delegates for the August National Delegates’ Convention is an indication of the party’s resolve to put its act in order as we approach the 2019 election year.

“What we are doing as a party in Ebonyi is to make sure that we fully reposition the party in order to wrest power from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, ‘’ Nwachukwu said.

He urged party chieftains and loyalists to strive to consolidate on the already prevailing peace within the party and assured that the APC was on a mission to rescue the state from bad governance.

“We are now one house and must work in accord to sustain the prevailing peace in our great party.

“We have come out of the leadership crisis that threatened the existence of the party and the era of factionalism in the party is now over.

“We must strive hard to consolidate the party under my leadership, bearing in mind that our collective goal is to liberate both the people and the state from bad governance, ‘’ he said.

He said that the 39 elected Ebonyi delegates had a sacred mandate to represent the interest of the state during the national convention.

Nwachukwu called on Nigerians and lovers of democracy to continue to support the programme and policies of the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari, especially the anti-graft war.

“Let me use this medium to appeal to our people and all lovers of democracy to continue with their support for President Buhari’s administration, especially in his war against financial corruption. (NAN)
