Aregbesola Converts Oyinlola’s Women Center Back to State Property

The former governor of Osun State and present National Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has claimed that the Women and Children Development Initiative Foundation (WOCDIF) in Osogbo, whose centre has now been taken over by the state government, belongs to his wife.

Oyinlola, who made this claim while receiving 750 members who defected from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the PDP said the foundation was a non-governmental organization and funded by private donations.

The ACN and the Osun State Government has since debunked the claim.

The Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr Basiru Ajibola, who spoke on behalf of the government said that the centre was built using public funds, and thus belonged to the state government.

Oyinlola, who left office in November 2010 after the Court of Appeal in Ibadan pronounced Rauf Aregbesola as the duly-elected governor, said he was yet to get his entitlements.

Also, the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the ACN, while faulting the purported defection of ACN members to the PDP, that “no true ACN member will leave the party for the PDP.”
