Artisan Kills Graduate Wife Over Plans To Travel Abroad

A 34-year-old bricklayer, Akinyemi Edgar, has been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command on suspicion of killing his wife.

The suspect reportedly beat his 28-year-old wife, Ajoke, to death in their home in the Mowo area of Badagry local government area, Lagos State.

The marriage was reportedly fraught with disagreement and the victim’s family had urged her to divorce the man until the unfortunate incident.

According to The Punch, quoting a witness, the late Ajoke, a graduate, had informed her husband that she planned to travel abroad in January 2018, which annoyed the man.

The man was said to have pounced on her, beating her until she gave up the ghost.

To conceal his crime, the suspect allegedly dragged her body to a well and buried her there before absconding.

Neighbours reported the matter at a nearby police station and the suspect was declared wanted.

Lagos Police PRO, SP Chike Oti said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department , Yaba .
