Barcelona were in their elements on Saturday afternoon, hammering Getafe 6-0 at the Camp Nou to open up an 11-point gap at the top of La Liga.

Talismanic forward, Lionel Messi scored one and provided three assists, as he took his tally to 36 in all competitions in the current season.

Also on the scorer’s chart were Neymar, who netted twice for his 25th goal in all competitions this season, Munir El Haddadi and Arda Turan.

However, the first goal in the game came via an 8th-minute own goal from Juan Rodriguez, just as Messi had his 11th-minute penalty parried to safety by Getafe’s goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita.

With the victory, Barcelona took their consecutive winning streak in La Liga to 12, and remain unbeaten in all competitions since October 2015.

The third of Barca’s attacking trio, Luis Suarez, who is gunning to claim the highest goal scorer title, was rested for the game.

Also rested for the game watched by over 87,000 fans was captain Andres Iniesta.

They are believed to have been rested for the UCL return-leg game against Arsenal on Wednesday, although they already hold a 2-goal advantage.

Second-placed Atletico Madrid will have a chance to cut the gap between them and the Catalan club to 8 points when they face Deportivo La Coruna later on Saturday, while third-placed Real Madrid play Las Palmas on Sunday for a chance to cut down the 15-point game between them and their bitter rivals.
