Boko Haram Strike Maiduguri Hours After Buhari’s Visit

President Buhari narrowly escaped some serious danger as suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a village in Borno state, Alikaramchi village, close to Giwa barracks in Maiduguri on Wednesday night.

Buhari had been in Maiduguri which was a stop before his visit to the Yobe state government house and Government Girls Science and Technical School, Dapchi, where he met with families of the 110 students kidnapped on February 19.

Buhari had been in Borno state visiting with the families of the abducted Chibok girls.

According to the Cable, a resident in the area, Bamus Garba, confirmed the attack which he said was perpetrated by twin suicide bombers who struck around 9:10pm.

According to Garba, the attack happened very close to his home.

Speaking on the horrific incident Garba said, “We heard loud explosions close to my neighbour’s house. I cannot confirm the casualty because we cannot go out at this time of the day,” he said.

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, a vigilante group that has been heavily involved in the fight against Boko Haram, Ali Dusuman, state that eight persons sustained injuries in the attack while two suicide bombers were killed.

Dustman said a team from the explosive ordinance department of the police has visited the scene alongside some security personnel.
