Nigeria's main opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari on Friday told AFP he was expecting to win next week's presidential election by a wide margin, despite talk of a close race. The February 14 poll, in which he is challenging incumbent Goodluck Jonathan, has been seen as too close to call, leading to a possible run-off if neither man secures a first-round majority. President Muhammadu Buhari will leave New York for London today.

This is according to online newspaper, Sahara Reporters.

The newspaper made this known in a tweet today as it reported that the president is going to London to see his doctors on Saturday, September 23, for a scheduled medical appointment.

Recall that last week a presidency source said that the president will leave New York for London for an undisclosed reason.

The new information indicates that this trip is precautionary in nature and is just a checkup.
