Buhari Cancels FEC Meeting

The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, has cancelled the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, scheduled for Wednesday.

The cancellation was confirmed by the president’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

Mr. Femi Adesina in a statement released to the effect stated that the president, Muhammadu Buhari will instead of the meeting rather receive the report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke.

Recall that the committee set up to look into the corruption allegation levelled against suspended SGF by the Nigerian senate and that against Mr. Oke by the EFCC is headed by the Vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo.

Yemi Osinbajo is expected to submit the report of the investigation to the president today at noon.

Buhari was earlier scheduled to receive the report on May 8 but travelled out of the country on May 7 for medical reasons.
