Bus Plunges Off Cliff In Ethiopia, Thirty Eight Killed

A bus in Northern Ethiopia on Monday fell off a cliff killing Thirty-eight people local media stations reported on Tuesday.

“A total of 38 people, (28 male, and 10 female) were killed in the accident,” Fana Broadcast Corporate stated.

The accident occurred between the towns of Dessie and Mekane Selam, Ten passengers survived but suffered grave to minor injuries in the accident.

Nigussu Tilahun the Amhara regional spokesman verified the incident, stating it occurred on Monday.

He added that most of the passengers were from towns near the site of the crash, the cause of the crash is still unknown.

“You can guess it might be technical, but the police are investigating it,” he said.

Ethiopia is Africa’s second most populated country and is one of the fastest-growing economies. It has renovated its road network recently and made expansions. However, there are still many people who use bus transportation for long distance journeys.
