Centenary launch: Jonathan commends Adenuga, Dangote, others

President Goodluck Jonathan has commended eminent Nigerians and corporate organizations who participated actively towards making the launch of Nigeria’s Centenary celebration a huge event.

Jonathan gave the commendation while delivering an address to flag off the Centenary anniversary celebration at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, on Monday night.

Among personalities singled out by the Federal Government for their commitment to ensuring the success of the launch is Mike Adenuga Jr, Chairman of Globacom Limited.

Others are President of Dangote Group of Companies, Aliko Dangote; Bisi Onasanya and First Bank; Tony Elumelu and Heirs Limited, and Cletus Ibeto and Ibeto Group of Companies.

“They have taken their pride of place and I urge all Nigerians to emulate them” Jonathan said.

The President said he was pleased with the large turnout at the event and the interest the Centenary celebration has generated among Nigerians home and abroad.

Also speaking at the event,Minister of Culture, Chief Edem Duke, commended the corporate organizations for partnering the government to reposition Nigeria for greatness.

The Centenary celebration is aimed at restoring hope in the country, arousing patriotic instincts and consciousness in Nigerians, breaking persisting stereotypes and institute legacy projects to take Nigeria to greater heights in the years ahead. Some of the activities lined up for the yearlong celebration include the construction of a centenary city, trade and investment road shows, centenary music competition and carnivals among several other value adding programmes and events.
