The Chinese Government has assured that Nigeria will continue to benefit from its “thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era’’.

The Chinese Consul-General in Lagos, Mr Chao Xiaoliang, gave the assurance at a news conference on Thursday to announce the outcome of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

“The Communist Party of China (CPC) held its 19th National Congress last week in Beijing.

“This week-long congress amended CPC Constitution to include President Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a component of the party’s long-term guide.

“There is a new roadmap for China’s development in the coming decades.

“We really hope to share the experiences and benefits of this new era with Nigeria. We are going to be increasing our investments in Nigeria in the next five years.’’

Chao expressed his optimism that the new era would further expand and promote mutually beneficial win-win cooperation between China and Nigeria in areas of trade and investments.

The envoy said that his government was willing to cooperate with the Nigerian Government through its Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

Chao said that China in the new era would “definitely become stronger and wealthier’’, adding that China was prepared to support the socio-economic development of Nigeria and other African countries.

“China remains firm in its commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation with other countries in this new era.

“The Chinese side is willing to continuously uphold the policy to Africa.

“China will push for the implementation of the “Belt and Road’’ construction in Africa and support Africa in the implementation of the sustainable development goals,’’ he said.
