Crisis As Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill One And Kidnap Others In Delta State

Tension has gripped mebers of Ossissa community in Ndokwa east local government area of Delta state as a 45-year-old renowned farmer has been killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

Nwadei Monday Ikechukwu, was gunned down on Thursday, June 16, when he was returning home from his plantain farm.

According to residents in the community, this latest incident comes after an alleged abduction of a lawyer and one other person in the locality by Fulani herdsmen.

A community resident said: “A lawyer was kidnapped with another person by Fulani herdsmen and the deceased unfortunately passed through the kidnappers den and was killed, the Lawyer was driving a Jeep and after paying the ransom, he was freed.”

Meanwhile, following the killing of the 45-year old farmer, all Fulani herdsmen reportedly fled the area for safety in fear of reprisal attacks.
