Customs Zonal coordinator commends revenue drive of area controllers

The Zonal Coordinator of Customs Zone ‘A’ (South West), Assistant Comptroller-General Charles Edike has commended the Customs Area Controllers in his Zone for their brilliant revenue performance in August.

Edike made the remark during the zonal meeting held in Lagos.

He applauded all the area controllers, comptrollers and unit heads for their resilience and dedication to duty.

The Customs boss appreciated their efforts in terms of revenue generation and national security, particularly in the month of August, in spite of the present economic recession.

“The Area Controllers almost met their Commands monthly targets in the month under review.

“All these efforts and achievements of Zone ‘A’ are attributed to the present able leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Retired Col. Hameed Ali’s three-point agenda to Restructure, Reform and Improve Revenue.

“It is in the same vein, he directed the present zonal coordinator, ACG Eporwei Edike to take charge of Zone ‘A’ (South West),’’ the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes Edike as saying.

Edike said that he keyed into the CGC’s agenda and decided to pay regular official visits and unofficial visits to the commands under his watch to monitor and assessed their activities.

The zonal coordinator said he acquired a wealth of experience as CAC PTML, CAC PCA Zone A, Comptroller Joint task Force (Customs, EFCC and ICPC), CAC Murtala International Airport, CAC TCIP and CAC Apapa Command and made a remarkable record in terms of revenue and national security.

He said that with his advice and professional experiences, the zone inaugurated a committee to produce an effective strategy (work Plan) for the zone.

Edike directed the controllers to fully implement the work plan which led the zone to achieve 97 per cent of its monthly target for August 2016.

He commended and appreciated the Controller Ondo /Ekiti Command, Comptroller F.T. Machu; Controller Murtala Mohamed International Airport Command, Comptroller F.N. Allanah; and Controller Apapa Command, Comptroller Willy Egbudin for exceeding the command’s monthly revenue target for the month of August.

He further commended the Controller of Federal Operations Unit, Comptroller. M. D. Umar; Controller, Western Marine Command, Comptroller Y. Umar; and   the Controller, Ogun Area Command Comptroller. Waindu Multafu.

He also commended the Controller, Seme Area Command, Comptroller Victor Dimka, for waging effective war against smuggling in the zone.

The zonal coordinator concluded by advising them to be creative within the customs laws and circulars; adding that creativity made the difference and it would stand them out by meeting their goals.
