Aero Contractors on Tuesday aborted its flight from Lagos to Abuja midway over technical problem.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the General Manager, Public Affairs of NCAA, Fan Ndubuoke, in Lagos.

It was reported that the aircraft, at about 3pm on Tuesday, had a bursted tyre while taxiing off at the runway of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

It was gathered that the Abuja-bound aircraft, which had over 100 passengers on board, successfully took off but the pilot had to make an air return to the terminal where it had departed.

All the passengers and crew members on board the Aero flight NG127 from Lagos to Abuja escaped unhurt as the pilot was able to control the situation.

It was also gathered that the passengers, who still wished to continue with their journey, were transferred to other flights.

Confirming the incident, the statement said the aircraft developed technical problem midway into the operation, which necessitated the air return.

The statement said: “The NCAA has received the occurrence report and wishes to say the Pilot has acted according to Standard and Recommended Practices.

“All passengers were evacuated unhurt at the international wing of MMIA, Lagos, while the airline provided an alternative aircraft to ferry them to Abuja.

“Some of the passengers instead demanded for a refund of their fares while others were rescheduled for tomorrow morning.”

It said the NCAA would promptly commence an inquiry into the incident and assured Nigerians that the Authority was very much committed to safety and security of passengers.
