For exposing diversion of council funds, the Head of Administration, Anambra East LGA, Mr Chike Obuekwe, has been given a sound beating by the Council Chairman, Hon. Pius Ifeadi.
The attack reportedly occurred after Obuekwe wrote a memo to the chairman to draw attention to the diversion of the council’s resources.
Ifeadi was said to have invited Obuekwe to his office, where he attacked him with shoes and other instruments, which left him with injuries to the head and other parts.
The injuries were said to have led to Obuekwe’s hospitalisation.
According to The Punch, the physical attack and resultant hospitalisation caused Obuekwe to petition the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission in the state.
When contacted, Ifeadi admitted there was “a little misunderstanding” but declared that it had been resolved.
