A 3 year-old girl, who was lost in the cold was protected by her dog until rescuers came to take her.
Little Victoria had wandered away from home after she thought her dog, Blue, was lost and she snuck outside to find him. She got lost in the woods in the process.
For 15 hours, residents of the rural town try to find the little girl. Rescue teams scoured the area until finally, she was spotted lying down in a dry creek bed with the dog crouching next to her.
Blue stayed by the little girl all night even as the temperature got colder.
When rescuers try to approach the girl, the dog got very protective and wouldn’t let strangers go near her. As soon as Victoria stood up and smiled, Blue relaxed and the two were sent up to safety in a helicopter.
Victoria only suffered frostbite from the experience and her family believed the faithful dog saved her life. A police spokesperson said, “The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night.”
