The Tollgate Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it prosecuted 39 offending motorists at a Mobile Court sitting in Ekiadolor, near Benin, during the Easter holidays.

The unit commander, Mr Adewale Ameen, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Benin that the offenders were arrested by the Special Patrol team during the Easter holidays.

He said that they were arraigned before a mobile court presided over by Mrs Franca Ogboator on Tuesday.

Ameen said all the 39 offenders were found guilty of various traffic offences ranging from non-possession of passenger manifests and seat belt violations.

The unit commander added that the court, which sentenced the motorists to various jail terms, however, gave each of the convicts an option of a fine, with a charge to obey traffic laws in the future. (NAN)
