The Director of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Gabriel Osu, has urged Muslim faithful to use the eid-el-malud period to promote peace, unity and love for one another.

Osu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos that Muslims should see themselves as vanguards of change in the society and as such live the exemplary life and legacies of Prophet Muhammad.

“The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is a time for sober reflection, to understand his way of life, his actions and his saying and follow them so that they (Muslims) can be the best of mankind.

“They should follow the tenets of their religion. A true Muslims does not steal, he keeps peace and he is his neighbour’s keeper.”

He urged them to shun acts inimical to the progress of Nigeria and emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad to solve the problems in the country.

The clerics urged Nigerians to be united in whatever capacity they are; as politicians, students, civil servants, traders and transporters to offer prayers for the survival of the country. (NAN)
