The Labor Leaders of Ekiti state yesterday burst into the old Governor’s office in Ado Ekiti, the state secretariat and other government offices to chase workers out of their offices.

The Labour leaders went as far as to even flog those who defied their directive to skip work for the day.

They were protesting the non-payment of five months salary and were on an indefinite strike.

Reports state that a witness on the scene said, “We were in the middle of something when the picketing team came in and forced us out of the office. Initially, we wanted to resist them but they brought out canes and started dragging us out of the office.”

The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Raymond Adesanmi branded those who didn’t want to partake in the picketing as saboteurs. He stated that they had all agreed to go on strike and that by reneging on the agreement they deserved whatever punishment they got.

The NLC, Trade Union Congress and Joint Negotiating Council had given Governor Ayodele Fayose a 48-hour ultimatum to pay workers’ salary deductions for December 2015 or face a strike action.
