Emir’s Wife And Daughter Rescued By Nigerian Army Two Years After Abduction

The Nigerian Army yesterday freed the daughter and wife of Shehu of Bama from the Boko Haram enclave in Borno two years after they were abducted.

The Boko Haram insurgents had abducted two children of the Emir along with the Queen but had killed one of the children, the Prince, some months after the abduction.

While the Queen and her daughter have been rescued and have regained freedom, details surrounding the rescue operation remains unclear at the time of news report.

The rescued daughter and wife of the Emir have since been taken to the Emir’s residence in Maiduguri by the General Officer Commanding, 7 Division of Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Victor Ezugwu.

The two were reported to have been rescued during a clearance operation by men of the Nigerian Army.

Eyewitness report confirmed that the return of the Queen and daughter had sparked several reactions with the palace of the Emir packed with several many of varying emotion.

The Emir, IBN Kyari El kanemi was reported to have wept upon the return of his wife and daughter.

A family source in reaction to the development said: “We are happy to see our queen and her daughter back. But we learnt that Boko Haram fighters killed her son who was kidnapped along with his mum”.
