The Enugu State Union in South Africa on Thursday re-stated its willingness to partner with the state government to bring development to the people.
The out-going Chairman of the union, Mr Oliver Ekesi, said in a statement after the union`s annual general congress at East London, Eastern Cape Province in South Africa that the union was blessed with professionals capable of assisting the state to grow.
Ekesi also said that the union was willing to assist the government in education, agriculture, ICT and health.
He commended Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for what he had put in place in the state in one year.
He also expressed the union’s happiness with the landing of the first cargo plane by Ethiopia Airways at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, saying that the move would boost commerce and business in the South East zone.
Ekesi thanked the people of Enugu in South Africa for giving him the opportunity to serve them for five years, saying that it was a wonderful experience.
He charged the people to support the incoming executive for continuity and goodwill in South Africa.
He urged the state government to liaise with the South African Airways to begin operations at the airport to ease the sufferings of the people of the area, especially the business community.
The union`s board of trustees was handed over the constitution and authority to conduct elections for its new executive. (NAN)
