The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have detained the former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and his sons, Aminu and Mustapha over a N1.3 billion fraud involving kickbacks from construction companies and other alleged graft.
Aminu and Mustapha had earlier been arrested in 2013, but were released by the EFCC after Governor Lamido petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan through back channels.
Governor Lamido reportedly surrenedered himself to the EFCC after the expiration of his tenure less than a month ago as he no longer enjoys immunity from prosecution.
He is expected to be arraigned in Kano tomorrow, along with his sons.
