ExxonMobil Declares Force Majeure On Nigeria’s Qua Iboe Crude Oil Export

1 Min Read

Following the recent attack on ExxonMobil’s Qua Iboe 48″ crude oil facility announced by the Niger Delta Avengers militant group, ExxonMobil has declared force majeure on exports of Nigeria’s Qua Iboe crude oil.

Although the oil company had come forward to deny any attack on its facilities, the spokesman of the largest export stream in the country, Todd Spitler, made the declaration on Friday.

The declaration has however been attributed to an observed “system anomaly” which was detected during a routine check of its loading facility on July 14.

Todd Spitler said: “We are working to ensure loading activities at the facility return to normal. We cannot speculate on any timeline for repairs”.

“Qua Iboe Terminal is operating and production activities continue.”

ExxonMobil’s spokesman further disclosed that the declaration has nothing to do with the attack claimed by the Niger Delta Militants.
