Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has charged the Federal Government to listen to its “guest”, Bill Gates, who said that the government’s economic template was not addressing the needs of Nigerians.

The world’s second richest man, Gates made the assertion on Thursday at the special and expanded National Economic Council, held in Abuja.

He added that Nigeria has the ability to approach ‘upper middle-income status’ like Brazil, China and Mexico, but added that achieving this status depends on “the choice Nigerian leaders make.”

Furthermore, Gates stated that the Nigerian government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) identifies “investing in our people” as one of three “strategic objectives”, but the “execution priorities” do not fully reflect people’s needs, “prioritising physical capital over human capital.”

But reacting via his verified Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode said:

Bill Gates visited the Presidency today and said: 1. “The present economic templates being used by the Buhari govt do not have the ability to address the unique needs of Nigerians”.

2. “Nigeria is the most dangerous place to give birth in the world”.
