Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, failed to carry out his presidential directive to stay in Benue to coordinate efforts to curb herdsmen attacks in the state.
Buhari made the comment on Monday while on an official visit to Benue to condole with the people and government of the state on recent herdsmen-farmers clashes that have left scores dead.
Fayose, a fierce critic of the Buhari administration, said he wondered if the president “knows anything” about goings-on in the country.
Buhari had on January 9 ordered Idris to relocate to the state following herdsmen attacks on Guma and Logo LGAs that left 73 persons dead on New Year’s Day.
However, the president was informed that the police boss did not spend more than a day in the state.
Reacting via his verified Twitter handle on Monday evening, Fayose said, “What manner of a President will give order to the IGP on January 9, only to be telling Nigerians on March 12 (2 months after) that he never knew that the IGP disobeyed his order? Does this President really know anything about happenings around him, not to talk about Nigeria?”
The governor added, “I am not even sure that President Buhari is aware of anything about the abducted 110 Dapchi school girls. We are in serious problem in Nigeria.”
