FEC convenes emergency session, Buhari in Absentia

An emergency session of the Federal Executive Council meeting has been convened with the Vice President presiding over the affairs of the meeting.

The meeting was reported to have started at 11:00 am on Friday morning with the President in absentia.

However, no official excuse has been provided thus far as regards the absence of Mr. President at the emergency meeting.

The FEC consisting of 36 ministers, the Vice President, The Secretary to the State Government (SGF) are reported to find the absence of the President shocking.

With the President in absentia, the SGF, Mr. David Babachir was reported to have called the meeting to order while the Vice President of the country, Yemi Osinbajo called for the opening prayer.

As at the time of report, no official reason has been provided for the convening of the emergency session but some officials speculate that the meeting is in connection with the review of the 2016 budget estimates.
