Hajj 2017: Female Nigerian Pilgrim Dies In Mecca

A Nigerian pilgrim from Kogi State has been reported dead in Mecca.

The Muslim pilgrim identified as Hajiya Asmau Iyawo Abdullahi was reported to have died during this year’s hajj in Mecca after she fell ill during the holy visit.

The deceased is reported to be from Igala-mela local government area of Kogi state.

Announcing the death, the Kogi State Hajj Commission Chairman, Shiekh Lukman Abdullahi Imam, revealed that the pilgrim died on Tuesday morning in Mecca.

He revealed this as part of the update on pilgrims from the state currently in Mecca for this year’s Hajj.

He said: “She died after all attempts by our medical team to treat her failed.”

Shiekh Lukman Abdullahi Imam continued: “She was an elderly person and her health deteriorated immediately she arrived the holy land.

“May Allah forgive her of all her wrongdoings; she has since been buried in the city of Makkah.”
