If the FG can borrow N600bn to Pay Salaries it should borrow to Fulfill Promises- Falana

Human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN) has spoken out against the government saying that Nigerians were suffering and not enough was being done to help them.

He mentioned the issue with electricity and said that if the Federal Government could borrow money to pay workers’ salaries, they could also borrow to fulfill their promises of welfare to Nigerians.

He stated this at the 2016 Pre-May Day Lecture with the theme, “The fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy”, organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

He was ably represented Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu, the Chairman, Partner for Electoral Reforms who decried the rising costs of social amenities that Nigerians have to endure.

“Since the Federal Government is in a position to borrow N600 billion every month to pay salaries, it should also borrow to fund the welfare programme promised by the APC.

“It is therefore suggested that the stolen wealth being recovered should be channeled towards the funding of a welfare programme for the people,”
