The Presidency on Thursday debunked claims that President Muhammadu Buhari said he was unsure of seeking re-election in 2019.
A Reuters report claimed that Buhari said so on a radio interview on Thursday, without providing details about the programme.
In the report, Buhari was further quoted as saying that the decision to run or not was personal and for the people of Nigeria.
But the respected news agency later retracted, citing a denial of the interview by presidential sources.
“The presidency said the person speaking had not been Buhari, and that Buhari had not given any interviews on Thursday,” Reuters reported.
Reuters further said that it was not clear that the interviewee on the radio programme was Buhari.
