FG Seeks End To Herdsmen-Farmers Clashes As Osinbajo Engages Sanusi, Lamido Adamawa

In a bid to curb clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met prominent traditional rulers from the northern part of the country.

Some of the traditional rulers that engaged with the vice president on Monday in Abuja include Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and the Lamido Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa.

Also in attendance at the meeting was an elder statesman, Malam Ahmed Joda and other leaders of the Fulani communities.

Mr Laolu Akinde, media aide to the Vice President, said that the meetingsl heralded the commencement of a series of nation-wide consultations to end the menace.

He said the delegates had provided insight into the causes of the clashes and proffered solutions.

Akande said the submissions of various stakeholders was analysed by the group.

He stated that the meeting condemned acts of violence in the clashes, especially killing of children and women and charged security agencies to be alive to their responsibility of securing the lives of the citizenry.
