Veteran Nigerian actor, Chiwetalu Agu has weighed in on the ongoing agitation for Biafra led by the embattled leader of pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
The veteran actor in a new video which has gone viral online warned the Hausa and Fulani people against the alleged ‘ill treatment’ of Igbo in Nigeria.
The actor’s take during a recent interview comes after the Arewa Youth and a Coalition of Northern Youth Groups ordered Igbos out of the northern region of the country.
In the interview conducted in Igbo language, the actor said: “Whatever they want to do to the Igbos, this country Nigeria, let them do. But I want to warn the Hausas, the Fulanis and others, take it easy. Because when the fire of God that burns comes, it will roast all of you.”
He added while speaking in favour of Igbos, “If you want to know who you are oppressing, compare us to the Israelites. We are the people of God. Pharoah was begged to leave the Israelites to go, Pharaoh refused, what happened later?”
Agu, reminding the northerners of the investments made by Igbo into their region which has been estimated to be an upward of $44million added: “You the northerners, where were you when Igbos were building hotels and different things. Where were you, people? You people were asleep, busy eating money gotten from Niger Delta and you have the mouth to say Igbos should leave, if it is done that way, Hunger will kill you people.”
