Fulani Herdsmen Kill Inmate In Failed Jail Break Attempt

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Saturday stormed the Benue State prison farm center in an attack which led to the death of one inmate.

Speaking on the attack which was carried out over the weekend, ASP Stephen Nwanchor, the Public Relations Officer of the Benue Prisons Service identified the victim of the attack as Tesoro Agidi.

The Benue Prisons spokesman alleged that the incident which led to the death of the inmate took place on Saturday at the Jato-Aka Farm Centre.

He added that the attack was a failed jail break attempt.

Stephen Nwanchor said: “This is a new farm centre established in January, 2017. The herdsmen invaded the place, destroyed property, shot and killed one Tersoo Agidi, an inmate.”

He added: “We have evacuated all the remaining inmates from the farm centre to Gboko, pending the outcome of the investigation. We are not taking anything for granted. My Controller of Prison is on top of the issue, and all relevant security operatives in the state have been notified.”
