Investigations have revealed that Major General S.U. Abdulkadir, the Head of Directorate, Army Standard Evaluation at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, is to head the military’s probe into the twin bomb blasts that hit St. Andrew’s Protestant Church at the Jaji Military Cantonment.

It was learnt that General Abdulkadir would head the investigations by the two military panels set up to look into the twin bombings which has left the military embarrassed.

Military authorities had put the figures of those killed in the blasts at 17, in addition to the two suicide bombers, while over 30 people sustained injuries of varying degrees.

However, the Director of Defence Information, Colonel Mohammed Yerima could not confirm the head of the probe panel set up by the Defence Headquarters and Nigerian Army to our correspondent.

He said, “Honestly, I have no knowledge of who the heads of the panels are. All I know is that the panels have been set up.”

The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, had announced the immediate removal of the Commandant of the Armed Forces Staff College, Air Vice-Marshal I. A. Kure and replaced him with Air Vice-Marshal E.E. Osim, a statement released by the Defence Headquarters on Friday said.

Also, the Corps Commander of the Infantry Corp, Major General M.D. Isah was immediately replaced by Major General K.C. Osuji.

Even though the statement by Yerima stated that the removal took immediate effect, it was learnt that the formal handing over ceremony would commence today.
