Girls Abducted By Boko Haram Return Home After 2 Years In Captivity

Two teenage girls from Jigawa State, Fatimah, 14 and Zainab, 8, have returned home yesterday after being kidnapped two years ago by the Boko Haram sect.

According to reports by Daily Trust, the girls, who originally hail from Gofai area of Dutse, were believed to have been abducted alongside their mother while on a visit to Maiduguri.

They were reported to have been abducted when they boarded a vehicle belonging to members of the sect in Maiduguri.

Ladi Dansure who is the Commissioner for Women Affairs confirmed the return of the girls, saying they were rescued by soldiers in Damaturu, Yobe state and have since been handed over by the State Government.

The Commissioner stated the girls were presently in the hospital undergoing medical examination before they would be finally reunited with their family.

The whereabouts of their mother is however still unknown.
