Governor Raises Alarm Over Imminent Attack On State

The governor of a state in the northeast geopolitical zone in the country has raised the alarm over a plot to attack the state.

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state said some persons who he did not disclose their identity were planning to stage an attack on the state.

He made this known on Saturday at the Taraba cultural festival in Jalingo, Daily Trust reported.

This is coming days after the British High Commission and United States Embassy in the country warned of imminent attacks on northern states and the Federal Capital Territory by dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

The embassies had also warned their citizens to be vigilant during the yuletide.

The governor disclosed that he had already put security agencies in the state on alert.

While urging residents to go about their normal activities without fear, he urged them to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements in their neighbourhood to security agencies.
