GTBank – Ogun State Principals Cup, Season 3 enters Quarter Final stage

The MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta is set to host the Quarter Final matches of the GTBank – Ogun State Principals Cup, Season 3 which kicks off on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th March, 2015 with 16 State secondary schools competing for the prestigious trophy in both the male and female categories. The football competition is geared towards the development of grassroots football, the discovery of young football talents and fostering camaraderie amongst secondary school students.

The 3rd season of the biggest grassroot football competition in Nigeria commenced in January 2015 with 229 Male teams and 115 Female teams from 344 participating schools in Ogun state. The Season 2 Trophy of the football competition was lifted by Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu in the male category and Alamuwa Girls Grammar School, Ado-Odo in the female category.

The Quarter Final stage of the tournament will see the following schools slug it out for a place in the Semi-final stage of the competition; Asero Senior High School, Abeokuta Pakoto Senior High School, Ayede-Ifo Idomila Comprehensive High School, Ijebu-Ode St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure Makun High School, Sagamu Ode Remo High School, Odo Itolu Community Senior High School, Ilaro Yewa and Community Senior High School, Tube Ipokia for the male category. The quarter finalists in the female Category are; United Comprehensive High School, Wasimi Muslim High School, Isolu Our lady of Apostles Senior Secondary School, Ijebu Ode St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu Ikenne Community High School, Remo Ajogbo Senior Grammar School, Ajibode Ota and Community Senior High School, Ijoun Yewa.

The star prize of N1,000,000 will be won by the winning male and female teams while the 1st, 2nd, 3rd runners up will receive N750,000, N500,000 and N250,000 respectively. GTBank will also upgrades the existing sports infrastructure in all participating schools.

The Bank compliments the Principals’ Cup tournament with an annual residential coaching programme known as “Camp GTBank”. Camp GTBank is a football developmental programme designed to discover, sharpen and cultivate the skills of outstanding talents of the GTBank Principals Cup for Lagos and Ogun states drawing on the experience of top coaches from European clubs.
