The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Ibrahim Idris on Thursday in Lagos honoured police Sergents killed by suspected armed robbers at Zenith Bank, Owerri, by naming a building after them.

Idris said that Sgt. Sunday Agbo and Sgt. Iboko Chukwu were honoured because they died in active service, stressing that the gesture would encourage others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen on Feb. 22 invaded a branch of the Zenith Bank in Owerri and killed the officers.

A two-storey building constructed by Police Mobile Force, 20 Squadron, at No. 1, Issues Street, GRA, Ikeja led by CSP Abubakar Yakubu, was, therefore, named after them.

Speaking with NAN, the widow of Sgt. Sunday Agbo, Mrs Blessing Agbo, said she was happy that her husband was honoured by the I-G.

She, however, called on the police authorities to help her to train her six children.

Mrs Rose Chukwu, widow of the late Sgt. Iboko Chukwu, also expressed joy over the honour, and appealed to the police to assist her in training her seven children.
