Embattled former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Senate Godswill Akpabio has denied being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission earlier today.
Akpabio’s media aide in a series of posts on social media site, Twitter, said,
Senator Akpabio is being investigated by the EFCC on allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement in excess of $500 million.
Akpabio was a close ally of former President Goodluck Jonathan and one petition filed by Leo Ekpeyong, a civil rights activist, says the Senator spent N50 billion to prosecute the former President’s failed re-election campaign.
