The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has stated that he will see to it that the policemen who took photos with the embattled leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu will be thoroughly punished.

The Inspector General of Police made his stand known on Thursday while speaking to policemen at the Police College in Ikeja as part of his two-day visit to Lagos.

Speaking on the offence, the IGP said: “Nationalism is key. Some officers were taking pictures with Nnamdi Kanu and this is someone that is challenging the unity of this country.

“We will not take it with levity. There should be no double loyalty to Nigeria. No matter your rank, your commitment to the country should be absolute.

“As policemen, you must be committed to unity, leadership and authority of government of this country. No double standards are allowed.”

The stance comes after the embattled leader of the IPOB declared that he along with his supporters will capture Anambra state and stop the forth coming election in the state and some other South-Eastern states.

Idris however commended the efforts of police operatives who have stayed committed to the task of protecting and serving the masses.

He said while commending the policemen’s efforts; “you are important for this job. We depend on you.”
