Ikeja Electric is set to reduce the fixed charges for power consumption being paid by its customers by 50 per cent so as “to serve them better.”

In a statement issued by it’s managing director, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje, this announcement was made at the stakeholders’ consultative forum on cost-reflective tariff in Lagos.

Ajifowobaje said although household consumers under Ikeja Electric and the other power distribution companies currently pay N750 as fixed charge monthly, the proposal is to the charge to N375.

He further explained that the proposal has been submitted to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission for approval.

He added that Ikeja Electric has reduced the fixed charges by 50 per cent from customers’ bills but has increased the energy charge per kilowatt/hour.

He urged all customers to utilise the cost-reflective tariff to enable the company to serve them better.
